Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
